Equality Objectives

Preston Primary Academy Trust is committed to ensuring equality of opportunity. We recognize that groups have suffered disadvantage because of their characteristics, and we want to reduce disadvantage, discrimination and inequalities of opportunity, and promote diversity for our pupils, our workforce and the community in which we work.

We are committed to complying with the Public Sector Equality Duty and will seek to

  • Eliminate unlawful discrimination and other conduct that is prohibited by the Act

  • Advance equality of opportunity between people who share a protected characteristic and people who do not share it. (The protected characteristics are age; disability; gender reassignment; marriage and civil partnership; pregnancy and maternity; race; religion or belief; sex; and sexual orientation.)

  • Foster good relations across all characteristics - between people who share a protected characteristic and people who do not share it

Each of our schools have their own bespoke set of equality objectives that work for the school and the community it serves.   The Trust board will have due regard to the Public Sector Equality Duty when making decisions, taking actions and developing policies.
